Poker Hostess Bares All in Playboy

Last week Pius Heinz overcame odds of 9/1 to win the coveted WSOP 2011 Main Event. But unfortunately, his feat was relegated to the back pages of poker news because Leeann Tweeden thought that this was the best time to bare all in Playboy.

Leeann wears many hats in sports casting. To the poker world she is the sexy hostess of the NBC late night television show Poker After Dark. One of the best episodes was titled Lonesome Shark and featured six of the most eligible bachelors of the poker world. Leeann entered this show in the fourth episode and saw it through till September this year. Poker After Dark went off the air because its sponsors Full Tilt Poker got into big trouble after Black Friday.

Leeann always had plenty of action on the sidelines. Last year she entertained the US Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Leeann had been on the cover of Playboy in 1996 as a host for ESPN’s workout show “Fitness Beach”, but then she had kept her clothes on. The bare all shoot had been a work-in-process for a year, and after September she decided to go for it. For 20 years she has made a living in show business and she reckoned, “…why not do this?”

The 38 year Leeann thinks she looks better now than she did in at the time of her first Playboy shoot. She has always been voluptuous and is not ashamed of her age or her curves. She said, “Everyone is telling me they like a little meat on the bones!” Leeann did this for herself and not anyone else. She had long talks with her husband, an Air Force pilot, before saying yes. Then she saucily adds, “If people don’t like it, they don’t have to look.”

The December 2011 issue of Playboy in which Leeann appears in her birthday suit is already on the stands. The photos were shot by female photographer Odette Sugerman. Leeann said, “The photos are beautiful, tasteful and very artistic. I felt the time was right to do this. And it helps add to my legacy.”

Finding optimal poker levels

The modern online poker game is a very tough one in which to try and make a lot of money. Some years ago then limit hold’em was the game to play as this game was the first real poker game played online. NLHE wasn’t around in online poker as the sites didn’t have the software to play any form of poker that didn’t have a structured betting system in place. But when they did then NLHE exploded in online poker and with it an avalanche of coaching sites and coaching material.

But what happened over the next few years was that a huge shift in how people played poker took place and this meant that the loose fish money dried up massively. If you had any problems with your game or your discipline then you basically had no chance in the new online poker world. Very few people were recording massive earn rates and so this knocked on to the number of people who were playing the game for a living. There are optimal strategies though that have to be employed in a game of poker but I think that an individual poker game is in fact a microcosm of the entire poker environment itself.

The optimal game theory for any poker game is to select individually optimised strategies for each opponent at the table. This is easier said than done when you are multi-tabling. It also means that when you multi-table that you are probably never going to reach a GTO solution. The best that you can possibly hope for is to reach a situation where your play is solid but playing low enough means that you can make money from rakeback and other types of bonuses. However it is getting difficult to make money in the actual games themselves because players are making fewer mistakes and so the effect of the rake becomes paramount or at least of far more importance! Now there are two ways to go in this situation, I think you can play as many tables as you can at far lower levels so as to maximise earn rate by rakeback and ensuring that you capture value from as many fish as possible.

Or you could in fact play at the other extreme of the scale and single table and play higher up but accept more variance. Playing a single table allows you to be able to watch your opponents far more acutely and this allows you to pick up vital playing patterns that you would have missed had you been playing more tables. You can almost feel a players “heartbeat” when you single table but this is even more so when you play against opponents who multi-table. You can put plays down on these people without them even realising it simply because they are multi-tabling so many tables that they cannot make the adjustments required to defeat your more GTO (game theoretically optimised) strategy.

Bobby Oboodi, Fred Goldberg Lead Final Table At WPT Borgata Poker Open

The only two players who have broached the ten million chip mark in the event – Bobby Oboodi and Fred Goldberg – will be in prime position to take down the World Poker Tour stop at the Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City when the final table plays out this evening.

When play was at two tables during yesterday’s Day 4 action, the two men were coming from different sides of the spectrum. Goldberg was leading the tournament at the time, holding over six million in chips, while Oboodi was on a short stack with only 975K in chips. Both players were able to navigate the troubled waters to surge to the WPT final table this evening.

Oboodi was able to get off on the right foot when he crippled Anthony Rivera. Wielding a K-Q against Rivera’s K-J on a K-7-4 board, Oboodi was able to dodge a Jack or a potential split of the pot, knocking Rivera down to only 57K in chips. Although he was able to quadruple up on the next hand, Anthony Rivera would eventually fall to Wade Woelfel and leave the tournament in eighteenth place.

Oboodi, flush with his newfound chips, worked his way through the final two tables on Thursday with an excellent rush. He eliminated four of the tougher players remaining in the event – Jack Schanbacher (sixteenth), Will Failla (denying him a historic back to back WPT championship in eleventh), Kevin Calenzo (ninth) and final table “bubble boy” Doug Kim – on his way to building a stack of 11.1 million in chips. That effort will put Oboodi in the chip lead when the final table begins tonight.

Goldberg, for his part, kept pace with Oboodi throughout Thursday’s action. His stack rose steadily throughout the day’s play, using the eliminations of “Miami” John Cernuto (fourteenth) and Dan Colman (tenth) to bolster his stack. By the end of play Thursday night, Goldberg had accumulated 11.08 million in chips, slightly behind Oboodi but in prime position to vie for this WPT championship.

When looking at the leaderboard, it will be difficult for any of the players – other than Oboodi or Goldberg – to have a shot at the title:

Bobby Oboodi 11,140,000 Fred Goldberg 11,080,000 Darren Elias 7,360,000 Daniel Buzgon 4,710,000 Ricky Hale 2,320,000 Jim Hwang 2,205,000

Although Oboodi and Goldberg would have to be the prohibitive favorites, Elias and Buzgon – if they can find some well timed fortune – could challenge the two leaders. It would take a huge final table rush for Hale or Hwang to make their way up the leaderboard.

The WPT Borgata Poker Open final table begins this afternoon at 3PM (Eastern time) and, in addition to featuring live coverage on the WPT website, live streaming will also be available. “The Raw Deal” host Tony “Bond_18” Dunst will be the host and a steady stream of popular players will join him in the call of the action. Will the big stacks of Oboodi and Goldberg dominate the final table, setting up a mano y mano showdown for the championship? Stay tuned to Poker News Daily for the results of the latest battle on the WPT felt.
